Environmental Responsibility
Paper is among the most valuable recyclable materials in the world. Through recycling one tone of paper, we can avoid cutting 17 trees, 7,000 gallons of water, 380 gallons of oil, 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space and 4,000 kilowatts of energy. In addition, recycling paper reduces methane and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. According to the EPA, recycling one ton of paper can reduce greenhouse gas levels by one metric ton of carbon equivalent. Meisam Paper is a large paperboard manufacturing company which produces value-added products from recycled and renewable materials. We have a strong commitment towards performing environmental friendly in all stages of our processes. We have integrated sustainable practices into all our processes and are striving for continuous improvement in our environmental-friendly performance. These activities are managed by our “Environmental Dept.” This business unit is responsible for developing our environmental strategy, processes, action plans and auditing programs. Some of the key goals successfully achieved by Environmental Dept. are as follows:
• Reducing waste and materials consumption
• Reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions
• Reducing water consumption and enhance water re-use
• Reducing the total environmental impact of our paperboard and packaging products.
We annually review the effectiveness of our environmental policy and initiatives to continually improve our management systems and environmental performance.
